It’s interesting to see the industry finally pivot away from the THC arms race, recognizing that the real experience lives in the volatile organic compounds. That new report detailing how terpene science is driving strain development validates what every veteran grower already knew: the nose knows. But here’s my caution: if we breed only for single-target effects derived from isolated terpene analysis, are we risking the complexity and depth—that beautiful, chaotic synergy—that defines the best landraces and heritage cuts? We need to respect the whole expression, not just the measurable parts.
